Eva got off on the twelfth floor and proceeded directly to the Presidential Suite. When she turned the corner in the hallway, she discovered a young hooker waiting by its entrance. There were girls coming and going all the time so she wasn’t surprised by her presence, only her ignorance. “There was no one booked in this room last night and no one is booked for today.”

Tanya replied in Russian. “I’m not here for business. I want to find Olga.”

Eva’s eyes bored into Tanya’s, then suddenly recognized who she was. “You are Alexei’s kitten, Tanya. Why did you come back?”

Tanya faltered, “I… I came back because of Olga. She was Russian. She was nice, and I... I... she said to contact her if I ever needed anything. I can’t stay with those awful people.”

Eva spat out, “You came back because you’re a whore. Olga must have gotten you some customers, and now you want more. Yes, Olga’s gone. She’s supposed to give me fifty percent and tried to cheat me out of my cut so I fired her. Go away, little bitch.”

During this blusterous rant, Eva nonchalantly took a small aerosol can of cleanser from the cleaning cart, anticipating Tanya’s reaction.

Tanya did not disappoint. “I am not a whore,” she fumed, lunging at Eva.

Eva sprayed the aerosol at Tanya’s face.

The teenager keeled over and rubbed her eyes with her knuckles, crying. “My eyes. I can’t see.”

Eva balled her fist and punched Tanya in her temple, knocking the teenager unconscious. The Seventh had an environmentally friendly policy so she knew there would be no permanent damage to Tanya’s sight from the spray.

The head housekeeper picked Tanya up and put her in the laundry cart, then covered her with linen and bath towels. She considered her options.

If she stayed and brought Tanya to Igor, her usefulness was over.

If she stayed and told Igor that she found nothing, he might interpret that as there was nothing to be found. Her usefulness would be over.

If she ran away, her daughter’s life was over.

She went into the bathroom, turned on the faucet and filled the washbasin. She put her wrist with Igor’s tracking device in it. Hopefully, the device wasn’t waterproof and would cease to function. After that, she would call Kotik from the suite’s landline to warn her. Then she would run.
